Slapshot Surprise

He’s a brooding goalie. She’s his team captain’s spirited sister. Add a surprise kid and a fake marriage—what could go wrong?

I’m David Mitchell, starting goalie for the Seattle Firebirds. On the ice, I’ve got it all—glory, fans, and highlight reels. Off the ice? Total chaos. Turns out, I’m the dad of a four-year-old son, Noah, who’s just been dropped into my life. His mom’s behind bars, and suddenly, I’m juggling hockey games, sleep schedules, and tantrums. And dinosaurs. Dinosaurs everywhere.

Enter Jessica Sinclair—my team captain’s sister, baker extraordinaire, and the only person keeping me from losing my mind. She steps in to help with Noah, and before I know it, her quick wit, calm presence, and killer smile start distracting me more than any power play.

But when Noah’s aunt swoops in for custody, Jess proposes the ultimate Hail Mary: a marriage of convenience. Fake vows turn into real feelings, and now I’m fighting for more than just wins. I’m fighting for my son, my family, and the love I never saw coming.
