She fled a scandal. He is one.

American heiress Francine Shaw never imagined she'd be posing as a governess in a rakish viscount’s home—but desperate times call for velvet gowns, fake references, and a plan to snag a titled husband before Christmas. Preferably one who doesn’t tempt her into forgetting all her good intentions.

Viscount Chance Allerton has no interest in marrying, let alone falling in love—not since heartbreak taught him better. But when a sharp-tongued, impossible-to-ignore governess shows up at his doorstep, he's intrigued…and instantly undone. She’s too clever, too beautiful, and too American to be trusted.

As secrets unravel and sparks fly, a no-strings holiday tryst turns into something far more dangerous: hope.

Can a man sworn off love fall for a woman hiding everything? Or will their Christmastide affair melt away with the snow?

Their deal was simple. Their desire? Anything but.
