Havoc
I am not a good man.
Two tours in Afghanistan, one in Iraq, and eight years as a Steel Sinners enforcer have made sure of that.
I don't do soft. I don't do attachments.
Eight years I held that line.
Then Ruby Lane walked into the Steel Sinner's casino.
Single mother with curves for days, shaking hands and dark eyes braced for the worst. A five-year-old son waiting in a motel room and the weight of the entire world on shoulders that refused to buckle.
She's running from something. Someone. And the last thing she wants is to fall for another dangerous man.
Too bad.
She's supposed to be nobody. Just another waitress I'll never notice, never remember.
Instead, she walks into my life and makes me want things I swore I'd never deserve. Makes me hungry for more than just her body.
She doesn't know it yet, but she's mine now. Her and that brave little boy she'd die to protect.
And I'll burn this entire city to ash before I let anyone so much as breathe wrong in her direction.
