• NEW YORK TIMES bestselling author.
• ‘My favourite historical novelist – stylish, romantic, sharp, and witty… her sense of period is superb’ MARGARET DRABBLE.
THE GREAT ROXHYTHE is a romance of Charles II’s court, with two unconventional love stories at its heart. The most noble Marquis of Roxhythe is the King’s favourite and the darling of the ladies. The whole court is jealous of his wealth, the beauty of his exquisitely clothed person, and above all of his friendship with the King. But beneath his airs and graces there is a hidden and keen intelligence, and a quick wit.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Georgette Heyer is the best-known and best-loved of all historical novelists. She was born in Wimbledon, London in 1902, the eldest of three children. A vociferous reader from an early age she wrote her first book to amuse her sick brother, Boris, and it was published in 1921. She would write over fifty more and virtually invented the historical romance genre. She died in 1974.

About This Book
“I see, sir, that you know my name. May I not have the honour of yours?”
His lordship’s brows rose.
“I am Roxhythe,” he said.
England in the reign of Charles II.
Restored to his throne after years in exile, the King has yet enemies to face, debts to pay and secret treaties to enact.
And he has the perfect man to help him achieve his ends. The Marquis of Roxhythe, brilliant of mind and ready of wit, is a master manipulator and Court darling who will do anything for Charles.
Into Roxhythe's life comes Christopher Dart, young, earnest and loyal, who will not believe the rumours about his idol, and will do everything he can to assist him… up to a point.
But can any man, even one so devoted, awaken Roxhythe's conscience and come between him and the one he loves above all others – his King?
The first historical novel by acclaimed Regency romance maven Georgette Heyer!
