Free to Fall

When an ER doctor agrees to become a temporary “nanny,” she never expects to face a diagnosis worse than death—falling in love with the single dad who hired her.

Dr. Laura Lockwood has built a reputation as “Queen Gore”—the fearless ER physician who leads her team through chaos, saves impossible cases, and never hesitates in the face of blood or disaster. Until the day violence strikes her hospital and shatters the certainty she’s always relied on.

Shaken and desperate for distance from the trauma, Laura steps away from the emergency room to rebuild herself. That’s when she meets Liam Payne—older, devastatingly handsome, and the sharply dressed father of a young girl injured in the attack. When Liam’s summer childcare plans collapse, Laura becomes the unexpected answer to his last-minute plea.

Crossing Liam’s threshold ignites a transformation. Her bedside manner returns. Her heart softens. And the bond she forms with his daughter becomes the first sign of healing she’s felt in months.

Warnings follow. Whispers. Doubts. Someone is watching, waiting, wanting to see Laura fail.

But the real danger? How quickly she falls for both father and child. Now Laura must confront the one diagnosis she never prepared for.

Does Liam return what she’s beginning to feel or will she be the only one to fall?
