For the Plot

At eighteen, Archer Blackwood broke my heart.
At twenty-seven, his dad just broke my bed.

It’s not like I planned to fall into bed with Reece Blackwood.

Not when I ran into him at a dive bar for the first time in years.
Not when I sent him my résumé after torching my life in one spectacular, wine-fueled spiral.
Not even when this cold, brutally handsome CEO looked at me like he wanted to ruin me.

He should’ve sent me away.
Instead, he hired me.

Now I’m his assistant.
He’s my off-limits obsession.
And every stolen glance, every breathless moment behind closed doors makes it harder to pretend we’re not one misstep from disaster.

He’s intense. Untouchable. Twenty years older and twice as guarded.

I tell myself I’m doing this for the plot. That it’s just a quarter-life crisis. That I won’t catch real feelings.

But under that sharp suit and ruthless control is a man who watches me like he’s starving.
A man who kisses me like he’s breaking every rule for the first time in years.
A man who tells me I wreck him—and means it.

I swore I’d keep things professional.
But we’re way past that now.

What we have is messy. Addictive. Dangerous.
Because when the truth comes out, it won’t just blur the lines—we’ll obliterate them.

Is he just a plot twist in my story… or the ending I never saw coming?
